C. Wilkinson

I arrived in Fall of 1984 and I had heard from people that they were telling women not to get pregnant. So when I got pregnant in 1985 I was told by the doctor at 4 weeks to not get attached because I was going to lose my baby. I bled through my entire pregnancy and was on bed rest. I never had any issues prior to arriving at George. I also suffer from Graves Disease and no one in my family has any thyroid issues.

I am not a doctor, Veterans Service Officer (VSO), or attorney; therefore, I cannot provide medical or legal advice.

  1. There was a problem at March Air Force Base during that time with Graves’ disease showing up in the “on-base” housing people. Apparently underground in the housing area was stored human waste for prisoners during WWII internment camps, and may have had other radioactive material stored there, as a dumping site. When it rained and flooded the earth of that area, the barrels came up out of the ground and the waste seeped into the housing and land it was on, and hundreds of people showed up at the clinic at the time with thyroid problems and Graves’ disease.
