D. G.

My name is D. G., I lived at George AFB as a child of an active duty soldier. I lived there from 83 to 91, at 238 Oregon St. I/m 36 years of age and suffer from equilibrium/balance issues. Uneven hearing loss, tinnitus, migraines, depression, and anxiety. No one in my family suffers from all these issues. The current hypothesis is that I have Meniere’s disease. However, there is some doubt about that since my hearing loss is opposite of the usual pattern for the illness. Separate from this around 86-87 our house was tented and treated for termites. Later around 90 I remember being told about asbestos being in our house. In fact my father made the comment that our house was not fit for habitation, and would should be condemned. Not sure where he got this information from. His name is Donald G. and was a private all the way to SSgt during our stay at George.

I am not a doctor, Veterans Service Officer (VSO), or attorney; therefore, I cannot provide medical or legal advice.

  1. Omg! DG, my name is George Gibson and my father Paul Gibson was a career USAF airman. He retired in 1975 as a communication cryptology specialist after 20 years of service to this country that he proudly served honorably. Myself, I served in the Army from 1981-87 as well. We lived on base at 153 Oregon St. from 1969-1972. Myself, Father and Mother and 2 sisters the third conceived at George AFB but born in Naples Italy. I had some of the best times of my life there. Still have the home made movies my Dad filmed there. We lived, ate, drank water and kool-aid, played in the sand and dirt and of course went to school there on base. I’m 56 years old and suffer from a lot of health issues; scleroderma, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, anxiety, pulmonary embolism, hypertension, fibrosis, diabetes etc…. I’ve had a double lung transplant and just recently was diagnosed with stage four kidney disease that is going to need a kidney transplant. Fast forward to 2001 my oldest sister died of breast cancer and in 2006 my Father passed away from heart failure. It’s amazing how much the government hides their dirty secrets from the people that served proudly and honorably for this country and when you go to file a claim they deny it and make you feel as though your unworthy of any compensation. I’m rated at 30% disability for service connected. After reading this article on line and the complaints filed you can best believe that I’m going all out to receive what I’m entitled to but furthermore prove that this government is full of you know what! However I’m led to believe that what the government hides comes to light and they have a lot of explaining to do especially when it comes to my father and sister passing away due to government negligence. May all that have lived at George AFB get their due diligence.
